One Pinterest Strategy to Boost Traffic to Your Business

When I decided to use Pinterest to market my blog posts I had to figure out which strategy I could use consistently enough to see real traffic on my website. Since Pinterest is an image sharing app, newly made pins are pushed out for users to see fresh content instead of repeated pin posts. So, after I did my research, I found one strategy that interconnects with posting only a few original pins.

Manual Pinning

This strategy is a DO- IT- YOURSELF one. The reason why it's beneficial is because scheduling a bunch of pins may oversaturate your account and may cause Pinterest to see it as spam and stop circulate your pins. Pinterest has to identify what the post is and who should see it. Plus, posting too many pins is hard to keep track of so I recommend pinning 2-5 pins a day each week. Personally, I want to keep up with what I pin to know of which links and designs I will use to create a new pin. The few pins you can handle consistently will eventually increase to where you can now use for re- pinning. When you have enough pins, you can re- circulate them in case you run out of pin ideas. As I mentioned before, Pinterest loves new content to distribute on feeds.

To start manually pinning means creating your very own pin to upload to Pinterest, yourself. In my case, I create pins for blog posts with links to my website. These are created on Canva. Editing a pin is fairly easy but the most important tool to remember is pins that are click- worthy because Pinterest is filled with pins, so the goal is to make yours stand out from the rest. Using Canva.com allows you to re- create Pinterest infographics pins that you normally will see throughout a Pinterest feed. There are many to choose from and you will be editing a template that follows these guidelines:

  • It has big and bold text.

  • Easy to read.

  • Includes original photos, if you can.

Pinterest has to understand what your pin is about so they can show it to its target audience.

Before you upload your click- worthy pin fill out your title and description with keywords that fit your pin. To find some using Pinterest, search up the pin topic and read the keyword bubbles that appear below. Use these keywords or relatable words for your board title and once you upload your original pin it has another designated place to go. Ex: I posted a pin about a blog post on

how to re- center yourself so I created a board with the keyword title: Self Care Ideas.

So, every time you manually pin a post also save it to a relatable board and keep doing that consistently each week.
